What do you like about blogging?

I think blogging really helps me to reflect my own learning. I can see whether I understand what have been taught or not. Then, I can do SWOT analysis which is a strategic planning method used to see strength, weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. Lastly, it helps me to think how to improve anything that I should improve maybe I have to be more focused during class.



What you do not like about blogging?

I have to spend my time and think deeply about anything that I want to write in my blog. If I don’t have anything to do, it’s ok to me but there are lots of things that we have to finish.



What have you gained from blogging e.g. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc. How?

Yes, blogging really helps me to improve my skills, for example, by writing; it can improve my writing skills as well as my language skills. I will know some of the grammatical errors that I did. Besides, to write anything, I need to stimulate my critical thinking by coming out with some ideas. On the other hand, blogging really helps in my technology skills. For example, I need to sign up into BlogSpot, then to start blogging; it requires me to explore some of the functions in BlogSpot, how to add the picture, how to create a new post.



How to change the font, etc. What do you like about this course?

I have learn many things about technology, especially how to find and explore about technological resources. For example, by doing the modules, I have learn on how to download some softwares, such as any video converter used to convert the files in the video, to cut the video, to do some snapshot from the video etc. Besides, I have also learn on how to search the web, how to convert the files into words, pdf etc. to conclude, many things I’ve learnt actually.



What you do not like about this course?

In order to finish all the modules, I have to spend many days to finish it. Thus, I have done many works, to printscreen, follow all the steps, and to print the same thing. Besides, the tasks given also require lot of time to do. Frankly speaking, there are lots of things that we need to do for other subjects too.



What have you learnt from this course?

I have learned many things especially something related to technology. Everything is about technology and in order to find some resources also requires the use of technology. This course also helps me in my technology skills.



What have you learnt from this course that you did not expect to?

Everything that I have learned in this course is the things that I’ve never expected from the very beginning. Such as audio editting, video editing, E-book etc. All those things are related to resources in technology.



What have u expected but do not learn from this course?

No, I did not expect anything before, Anything that was expected, I’ve already learnt in this course.

What do you like about this module?

I have learned on how to find the some of the resources from the internet as well as enhance my computing skills.



What do you not like about this module?

To download some document from the intrenet, it will take some time. This module also quite thick and lots of thing we should do.

The task really helps me to find some documents and information from the internet.



What do you not like about the task given for this module?

Nothing. But I think the task is quite confusing at first, but I managed to do it.



What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I have learned on how to search related documents from the internet. It really enhanced my internet skills( technology skills)

Yes, I can find some documents from the internet and use it as my teaching aids. Besides, I have learnt some computing skills which it really helps to enhance my skills to use computer.



Photo Editing



What do you like about this module?

I know how to edit the photo, to make the photos more interesting thus, knows about many softwares for photo editing.



What do you not like about this module?

Nothing that I don’t like about this module



What do you like about the task given for this module?

For the task in this module, I managed to finish the task before the due date shows that I really like to do this task. I love to edit the pictures actually



What do you not like about the task given for this module?

To come out with many teaching aids from the lesson plan done, it makes me a little bit confuse and require lots of time.



What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

The specific skills that I’ve learn is to make the pictures become more interesting is not the easy thing to do. It requires lot of time. At the same time we have to do print screen and I was told a bit late, then, I have to redo the same thing( I cannot remember what I did to the previous edited picture)



How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

Yes, I can choose some pictures that can be used as my teaching aids, then if the pictures not clear for example, I can edit that pictures and make it more interesting.


Audio Editing Skills



What do you like about this module?

I know how to edit the audio , cut the song and do many things with the audio.



What do you not like about this module?

It requires lot of time. For example, if we want to increase and decrease the sound of the audio,we need to hear the sound from the very beginning, identify which part that we want to edit.



What do you like about the task given for this module?

I can combine the songs, learn on how to do a ringtone and edit the audio by identifying which past that should be edited.



What do you not like about the task given for this module?

For the task 3, some part is quite difficult to identify and it was quite difficult to remove the noise, I can only decrease the noise and cut the audio a little bit, so that that audio will run smoothly.



What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

Skills on how to use audacity software, and know some function in this software. Thus, I have learn many things about audio editing



How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I can use my skills on how to edit audio, maybe I can choose any song especially children song, edit that song and use it in class especially with children. Example, I can make the song as a minus one.


Video Editing Skills



What do you like about this module?

I’ve learn something on how to edit the audio, know many software that can be used to edit the video such as windows movie maker, any video converter, etc.



What do you not like about this module?

I like everything about this module



What do you like about the task given for this module?

The tasks given required me to extract the pictures , the audio and it really help me by giving new knowledge about video editing

For some software such as windows movie maker, only a video with AVI format can be used. So, I have to find different software to do this task.



What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I learn on how to extract the pictures, audio from the video and it really helps to enhance my skill in editing the video and make it to become more interesting.

I can pick any video that suitable with the topic, extract the pictures as well as the audio and use it as my teaching aids.


Software for ELT What do you like about this module?

I’ve learn many things about new softwares as well as learn many things from Microsoft publisher



What do you not like about this module?

Some software make me confuse on how to use it and require lots of time to explore.

I can explore many things about software, learn about something new

The tasks given was quite confusing and we have to be more creative in order to come out with a piece of good work

I’ve learning some searching skills as well as thinking skills on how to be more creative.

Yes, I can come out with many things once I master doing all these and know how to use many interesting things. For example, I will come out with a poster so that it can be used to promote something or can be used during teaching and learning session.



If you can change anything about this course, state what is and elaborate?

Maybe in one module, do not repeat the same thing, maybe introduce only one or two things in details ( just like before), doing the print screen etc and the rest is just the introduction and no need to do, just giving the tutorial. The task given also should be minimize, because there’s lot of things that we should do, for other subjects as well and it make we did not able to finish all the works within the time given

Week 14

FINALE!!!

This week is our 14th week means this is our final week for this semester. But there are still many works that we have to finishFor Module 4 tasks, the dateline is on 29th Oct ( Thursday).We have to finish all the task in Module 4 which is about video editing and submit many things on Thursday which are:~Task 1 ( pair, video editing)~Task 2 ( Individual,-extracting audio and pictures from video,Lesson Plan)~Task 3 ( Group, lesson plans)~Module 4 ( video Editing)Since this is the last week for our lesson, I would like to make some conclusion regarding on this subject. My point of view as well as my opinion. Frankly speaking, I have learn many things in this resources class especially something related to technology.I've put really sooo much effort in this subject by doing all the tasks given. I hope I'll get an A's in this subject, insyaAllah.Last but not least, we will have an exam next monday, wish me luck and good luck to all my friends!~

Week 13

WEEK FOR SUBMISSION AND MODULE 4

THE TASKS THAT WE NEED TO SUBMIT:

1) Module 2 (photo editing)
2) Individual work, hardcopy + softcopy (task 1)
3) Pair work, e-book, hardcopy + softcopy (task
4) Group work, lesson plans, hardcopy + sofcopy (task 3)

We're already in week 13 and it means that only one week left before the end of the semester. I cant imagine that we are already in 13th week. So, for this week, we were asked to submit module 2 which is our E-book and lesson plans. Means there are only 2 modules-5tasks are waiting and we should finish it before the end of the semester.Frankly speaking, I have learnT a lot from all the modules. I learn how to edit pictures by using many softwares and its really interesting. Before this, I was not interested at all to use Photoshop software but now i've learn a lot for example how to erase the background, how to do some changes to the pictures etc. Forget about photo editing, let us talk about video editing. Before this I only know to edit and to make a video only by using movie maker,but from this module 4 ( mainly about photo editing, i've learn on how to use many softwares such as any video converter, Real Player, online downloader etc to edit the video. Besides, there are many things in this module ex: how to extract audio, how to extract pictures etc.It really helps me to enhance my knowledge as well as skills about technology.

Week 12

E-BOOK, MODULE 2(CONT.), INTRO TO VIDEO EDITING

This week's class, Pn Foziah has showed some examples of e-books to us. This is to help us to get clearer ideas on how to make an e-book. E-book is an interesting and attractive way to be integrated in teaching and learning process. It helps to engage learning in a fun and meaningful way. She also gives us some tutorials on Module 2 (photo editing).Then, checking the e-Book that we have done.For e-book, there must be:

1) A theme to the story

2) Setting (time and place)

3) Plot that shows the conflict, climax and resolution

4) Characterization

5) Navigational tools to make sure the slides can work properly (can go to next slide and previous slide)

6) Pictures must be clear cut and colourful, no different shades or shadows

7) Sound to accompany the e-book reading.

Then, Puan Foziah went around the class to check our E-book and she gave some comments regarding on our works. Her comments really help us to improve our works.Then, before the class come to the end, Pn Foziah gave us the continuation of Module 2 which is something about picture editing.For this week also, Pn Foziah gave us some introduction about video editing by showing us some examples of video editing done by her students. Again, there are some criteria that we should consider when we complete this task.

Then, Puan Foziah reminded us to think about our video editing theme as well as think about the story board and we may want to tell us what we plan to do before the class end. My partner, Hafizzudin has decided to choose 'Friendship' as our theme for our video editing task. And I'm sure it will be very interesting.That's all for this week entry.

Week 11

We have done the photo editing task. The theme of my edited picture is friendship. So, my focus is to make the picture looks like a photo that can be hang in the museum and to show everybody about bonds beetween two friends..here are the pictures..

During the class, Pn Foziah has introduced e-book to us. She also showed some of the examples of the e-book to us. In pairs, we are asked to complete Task 2 which is creating e-book in Ms PowerPoint. The e-book must be designed with the suitability of primary children as it will be used in the primary classroom. My partner, Hafizzudin and I,we decided to make the e-book base on a nursery rhyme which is 'Head and shoulder, knees and toes'. Hope that we are able to create an interesting and appealing e-book.

Week 10

This week's class, Pn. Foziah asked us to complete the task 1,2 and 3 in the Module 3. We need to cut the chorus part of any song, remix the song and also edit the song 'Dua Insan' by Siti Nurhaliza and M.Nasir. She commented on everyone works as she checked one by one during the class. I realise that there are a lots that I need to improve for my tasks in the AUDIO EDITING. At the end of the class, we also need to submit the 2 assignments which are, LESSON PLANNING and TEACHING AIDS COLLECTIONS and also our Module 3.

Week 9

This week's class, Pn. Foziah was not around but we still need to come to the class because she gave us the next module which is Module 2. This module is about PHOTO EDITING

and we need to use ADOBE PHOTOSHOP CS3 in order to complete this module. The assignments that we need to submit after raya also have been postpone as she gave us more time to finish it.. Thanks to her !

Week 8

For this week's class, we need to submit our assignment which is Module 1 and Pn. Foziah have gave us a new assignment which is Module 3. This module is all about audio editing and we need to use Audacity software in order to complete module 3. I haven't use this software before, so it can be considered as a new software to me. But I have used another software in order to edit audio before and I only know how to cut the audio... Using audacity, we need to cut the audio, changing the pitch, increasing and decreasing the music tempo etc.Beside that, two assignments need to be completed which is TEACHING AIDS COLLECTIONS where is the collection of technology and non-technology teaching aids as well as LESSON PLANNING ASSIGNMENT which is completing the lesson plan. All these was done in group of 5. My group mates are Fatin Farhana, Marhani, Hafizzudin and Faiz.

Week 7

Nothing new. This week's class, we are asked to use the 3 hours to complete our Module 1 - Computing and Internet Skills.



It has been a long jurney for us to complete the tutorials in the module. Two weeks time seems not enough. Some of the application in the tutorials are very new to us although the overall module contains of basic technology skills.



One thing for sure, we will try our best to complete the tutorials in the module as we know that it is very important for us to know all the applications. As future teacher, this is the challenge that we need to face. We must equip ourselves with all the technology skills and knowlegde so that we can apply it in our teaching and learning process later.

Week 6

Module 1

Computers and Internet Skill

This is our sixth week. We have been given a task to complete. The task is based on Module 1 - Computer and Internet Skills. .It consists of the most basic component of technology. There are several parts in this module. This module consists of ;

1) Web Search

2) Downloading ( software, video from Internet, PDF documents)

3) Uploading

4) Encoding

5) Storing

6) Scanning

7) Burning

8) Sending e-mail

9) Compressing files

1.10) File conversion ( PDF to Microsoft Office Word, PDF to Microsoft Office Power Point, Microsoft Office Word to PDF, Microsoft Office Power Point to PDF, Word to Acrobat Reader, Adobe reader manual, Zamzar Manual and Abclit)

Looking at the thickness of the module makes me wonder why we need to produce the module by completing all the tutorials in it. But somehow, I realize that this module helps us as future teacher to upgrade our technology skills. It shows us the step by step procedures and it is really helpful for us. It makes us clear on how we can do something. Besides, we can also seach for other ways in doing it and put it in our module.

These tutorial tasks require 20% marks and we are given 2 weeks time to finish it. We are asked to compile all these materials into portfolio by the end of the semester.

All in all, as future teachers, it is crucial for us to explore the technology and to equip ourselves with the basic technology skills. This will help us to become successful teachers as our education system demands the use of ICT and technology in the teaching and learning process.

Week 5

..Teaching Aids..

In the 5th week class, Pn. Foziah gave us a task. We are required to design and prepare teaching aids for Year 1 to Year 6 classes. My partner, Umar Fikri & I have been assigned to prepare some teaching aids for Year 2, Year 5 and Year 6 pupils. The topics are Fun Time At School, Where do you live? and Growing Pains. For every lesson, we have to choose suitable teaching aids that can be use in all five stages, which are Induction, Pre, While, Post and Follow stage. We are given 3 days to complete the task. We've already submitted the assignment.

The task really help us to prepare ourselves in becoming future English teacher. We have to be creative in planning and preparing the lesson so that it will be more interesting and meaningful to the pupils. The integration of ICT in designing teaching aids will help the lesson to become more interactive, appealing and the pupils will experienc enjoyful learning environment.

My partner and I have given our best in completing the task. We have chosen several types of teaching aids. They are picture cards, powerpoint presentation, videos, games, quiz and interactive exercise. Most of the teaching aids are downloaded from the educational websites. Here, I would like to share a few teaching aids that have been used in my assignment.

Week 4

The class for the week has been cancelled. Is that a good or a sad news? Hmm...
That means, we are a week behind the other class....As i'm so curious about the lesson for the week, , I asked my friend from the other group about what have they learned. Surprise..surprise..The lesson was about how to download video, songs and lyrics from the internet. Hmmm…sounds interesting! I bet this is a very useful lesson for us so that in future, we can download things from the internet as our teaching aids. I hope by next week, we will learn about all those things..

Week 3

This week was all about how children learn a language. We were divided into 6 groups and each group had to present on the subtopics in the first chapter of Susan Halliwell's Teaching English in the Primary Classroom which is Working with young language learners.Together with my group mate - Hafizzudin, Faiz, Sarah, Imah and Hanif,we were to present 1.6 - The Instinct for Interaction and Talk.

Basically this subtopic explains to us that children have the instinct to talk. Thus, they bring their instinct and attributes into the classroom. As a teacher, we should be alert with their instinct. We should use the instinct that they bring into the classroom to encourage them to talk. There are many ways that teacher can do to encourage the children to talk. In order to encourage the children to talk, teacher can set up the purpose for them to talk. Teacher should provide the children with good reasons why they should talk. This can be done through classroom activities such as information gap, group work, games, hot seat and dramatisation. When children are clear with the purpose for them to talk,it will lower down their anxiety level. Thus, they will have no barrier to talk and to express themselves.It is important for the children to talk, to use the language so that they can be good at talking. The only way to learn to use the language is by using the language.

Week 2

This is my SECOND WEEK in UM. There are so many things to catch up and to get use to. I am still adjusting myself so that i will be able to adapt the new environment in UM. The most crucial thing is i have to get myself updated with the technology tools because every day, we will be engaged with computers.

During the resources class, Puan Foziah asked us to select a LEADER and a TREASURER for our respective group which is group 2. Unfortunately, NOBODY ARE WILLINGLY to volunteer herself/himself to be a leader.
HAZWAN was dominated as a leader and DOMINIC was volunteer himself to become a treasurer.Dominic was asked to collect the money for the book.

Puan Foziah explain to us about the skills in using the keyboard. This was a new experience for me as I did not know that, if we used a correct way of using keyboard, we could type faster than before. Actually, if we take a look at the keyboard, the letter "F" and "G" was the center of the keyboard. The left hand was responsible for "F" territory only, meanwhile the right hand side was only for "G" area.

Puan Foziah told us that our right hand is more stronger compared to the left hand side. This is why right hand covered large area so that, we will not get fatigue when typing. The position when typing also important where we must be comfortable. Our hand need to be at the same level with the keyboard in order to avoid from fatigues.

Week 1

We were having a short briefing about this subject by Puan Foziah.She gave us some introduction and tried to make us feel comfortable with her. For the first class, we were combined with both groups before we were divided into two groups. It was difficult for her to handle us, 75 students in one class. But, I think it was not a big deal for her to brief us because she have many experience before .
First and foremost, she told us what we were going to do regarding to this course. I thought that we are going to prepare some resources/material for the lesson just like the name of the subject. But, after the briefing, actually,we have to do all the resources by using IT and of course I have to learn more on how to get use to ICT.

The first thing, we were asked to create was our OWN BLOG for this course.Then email the link to the lecture's email.
We were asked to Photostat some books that we are going to make it as our revision.We were also asked to install Adobe Photoshop CS3, Seriously, I don't know how to use this software. I DON'T KNOW many things actually!hmm. And lastly, the most important thing, we were told to have a THUMBDRIVE at least 8GB. And we have to get all that ready by the following week!!Seriously, I'll take all these as a challenge .I hope everything will be ok;p
